Spring, the ideal season for vacations in Corsica

To (re) discover this island jewel and its wonders, there’s nothing like spring! April, May and June: no heatwave, fewer tourists and the maquis is in bloom.

A victim of its own success, the island unfortunately suffers from overcrowding. In summer, up to 6 million tourists pour off the ferries at Bastia, Calvi, Île-Rousse, Propiano and Porto-Vecchio! These floods have prompted the Corsican Assembly to introduce annual quotas to protect the environment. From now on, to visit the Lavezzi islands, hike Bavella or visit the Restonica gorges, you’ll need to book in advance: no more than 200,000 visitors on these sites until 2026! The mythical GR20 trail between Calenzana in the north and Conca in the south, much used by hikers of all stripes, may also soon be subject to regulation.

Although the water temperature in April is still a little cool for swimming (approx. 14°C), the days are very pleasant. They are ideal for all kinds of activities. In May, on the other hand, you can jump into the water without hesitation. In June, multiply your pleasures: the days are longer!

It’s impossible to go on vacation in Corsica in spring without visiting its gardens, an explosion of aromas and colors! Here are a few of the most remarkable: Parc de Saleccia (Balagne entrance), Parc Galéa (Bastia), Jardin des Milelli (Ajaccio)…

Finally, a tour of one of the island’s most representative ecosystems is a must: its maquis. Arbutus, heather, cedar, chestnut, holm oak, rockrose, myrtle and rosemary cover 40% of Corsica!

In short, to visit this paradise just a stone’s throw away and make the most of your next stay in Corsica, opt for a spring vacation… or an autumn one.

Autumn, another great season for a stay in Corsica with Azureva

An autumn vacation in Corsica is also an excellent option. In October, temperatures can still be summery, easily reaching 25-26°C! That’s plenty of time for swimming, water sports or simply soaking up the sun on a deserted beach. Not to mention hiking and other activities that become more accessible with the ebb and flow of tourists.

It’s impossible to think of autumn without also thinking of forests and their flamboyant colors. And you don’t have to go to Canada to enjoy them. Corsica’s forests, despite their huge numbers of pine trees, offer a veritable autumn festival. Don’t miss the Valdu-Nielli forest in the heart of Corsica’s Regional Nature Park, the Pianellu chestnut grove, Vizzavona…

Autumn in Corsica, under the sign of Indian summer, also means beaches as far as the eye can see (1000 km of coastline!), with sand and sea as the only horizons. In October, the average water temperature is still 20°C! Here, just for you, is our TOP 5 of the most beautiful beaches to extend your vacation in Corsica: Palombaggia (Porto-Vecchio), Rondinara (Bonifacio), Ostriconi, Roccapina (Sartène) and Erbaju. And, if you can, don’t miss the small coves of the Lavezzi Islands, a veritable Eden in autumn!

Finally, a vacation in Corsica in autumn means taking advantage of unmissable sites all to yourself: Calvi and its citadel, the Gulf of Porto and its square tower, the Lavezzi Islands, the Agriates Desert, the Scandola Reserve, the Sanguinaires Islands…
